In partnership with eight tourist organizations from eastern Serbia (Majdanpek, Kladovo, Negotin, Bor, Zajecar, Sokobanja, Knjazevac and Boljevac), RARIS is implementing the project "Through education to new regional tourist products of eastern Serbia". The project is funded by the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications and its implementation continues the regional partnership and cooperation in the field of tourism in eastern Serbia, which started more than ten years ago.

Within this project regional training sessions were organized in Zajecar on 14th and in Bor on 15th October 2015, for the purpose of preparing new regional tourist products of eastern Serbia. With assistance from leading experts in this field, the participants had the opportunity to receive practical training on the creation of a joint regional tourist product and in the practical part of the training they were able to jointly identify potentials of eastern Serbia and put forward proposals for future joint tourist products that can be sold on the domestic and foreign markets.

The training was attended by representatives of local tourist organizations - founders of RARIS, representatives of tourist agencies, hoteliers and private accommodation providers, representatives of catering facilities, representatives of civil society organizations, associations of women and young people involved in the development and promotion of tourism.

The lecturers at the training were Bojan Zecevic, PHD, Faculty of Economics in Belgrade as program manager and Dr. Milan Culic, the Center for Tourism Research and Studies from Novi Sad.
 
The trainings had the following thematic areas:
  • Position of eastern Serbia as a tourist destination on the tourist market
  • Characteristics of a tourist product intended for domestic and foreign markets
  • SWOT analysis of a tourist product
  • Competitiveness of basic tourist products of eastern Serbia
  • The main participants in the creation, development and placement of tourist products of eastern Serbia
  • Positioning of the destination in relation to tourist products
  • The relationship between the positioning and application of marketing mix instruments
