RARIS organized the Business Forum “Eastern Serbia in Vienna 2015”, in cooperation with the Union of Serbian Clubs in Vienna and the Club of Serbian Businessmen in Austria, in Vienna, on April 27th. Conditions for business operation in eastern Serbia were presented at the Business Forum and the manner of establishing business relations between the Serbian diaspora – motherland were discussed.

Owners of private businesses from Vienna and Tyrol originating from eastern Serbia, as well as other representatives of the diaspora interested in establishing business relations with the motherland, took part in the meeting.
Representatives of RARIS particularly emphasized that local governments and other relevant institutions in the region significantly improved conditions for business operations and investment in recent years:

• All municipalities have special offices that assist the economy,
• RARIS maintains a database of available investment locations and projects,
• Most municipalities also have incentive measures for development of business operations,
• PARIS and Regional Chamber of Commerce Zaječar can provide a wide range of assistance to companies in establishing contacts with potential partners.

Exchanged information indicated the need for further cooperation and better dissemination of information to the diaspora on current economic developments in Serbia. RARIS has been recognized as a link of the diaspora and local self-governments in eastern Serbia.
The event was preceded by two meetings with representatives of our diaspora organized by RARIS, “Timok Club” and the “Zavičaj” (“Homeland”) monthly, which were held in March. The organization of the Business Forum was supported by the Citizens Association "Timok Club" from Knjaževac, with the support of the Board for Cooperation with the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region.
