In the period from 22-24 April, the kick-off conference of the project " Rural communities’ engagement bringing green solutions (RURAL-GREEN)" which is funded by the European Union through the CERV Program was held in Knjaževac.
A total of 46 participants from 5 countries - Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Slovenia and Serbia attended the International Conference with the working title "Circular economy is the new industrial revolution".
Circular economy is a system in which resources, waste, waste emission and energy consumption are reduced by slowing down, rounding off and rationalizing production cycles. This is achieved by maximizing the life of the product, but also by maintenance, servicing, rational consumption of energy from renewable sources, product reuse and recycling.
The conference was opened by the mayor of Knjaževac, Milan Đokić.
Dušan Vasiljević, an international expert in strategic planning in the field of environment, ecological, economic and energy security, renewable energy sources and sustainable development spoke on the basics of the circular economy and examples from practice that can be easily implemented.
At the conference, among others, the local museum and the public utility company "Standard" from Knjaževac, companies Demetra from Knjaževac and Agromarket from Kragujevac, the Mountaineering Association "Ljuba Nešić" from Zaječar and the associations "Izvor" and Timok Club presented their examples from the circular economy.
