Natural beauty, cultural heritage, wineries and spas of the Bor and Zaječar region presented
A successful presentation of Eastern Serbia’s tourism offer was held today at the Embassy of Serbia in Sofia. More than 30 representatives of Bulgarian travel agencies had the opportunity to discover why our region is known as “A Place Where Reality Becomes Magic.”
The Eastern Serbia region, comprising the Bor and Zaječar districts — including the municipalities of Majdanpek, Kladovo, Negotin, Sokobanja, Knjaževac and Boljevac, as well as the cities of Bor and Zaječar — was presented through its greatest assets: cultural heritage, unspoiled nature, events, gastronomy and outstanding wineries. Particular attention was drawn to the Sunce, Stara Planina, Srbija TIS and Đerdap hotels, as well as the Gamanović and Matalj wineries.
Bulgarian travel agencies showed the greatest interest in the region’s cultural and historical heritage and natural attractions, opening opportunities for concrete future cooperation.
The presentation was followed by bilateral meetings, during which an organised visit by representatives of Bulgarian travel agencies to Eastern Serbia was agreed upon.
Eastern Serbia currently offers:
- more than 3,000 tourism facilities and 11,000 beds
- 300,000 tourists annually and one million overnight stays
- more than 50 protected natural areas
- over 100 km of trails, 25 wineries and 100 festivals
Eastern Serbia is not just a destination — it is a story of the continuity of civilisation, unspoiled nature and development potential.
The presentation was organised by RARIS – Regional Agency for the Development of Eastern Serbia, with the support of the Embassy of Serbia in Bulgaria and in cooperation with the Bulgarian travel agency associations ABTTA and BATA.
