The Working Group on Environment in the framework of the project "Eastern Serbia towards the EU" held a meeting dedicated to presentation of EU regulations and requirements in the sectors of nature protection, and water protection. Expert support to the meeting was provided by dr Dragoljub Todić. He presented in detail the EU regulations regarding treatment and protection of water and environment together with all important documents that chart the path of EU accession

Environment issues and climate changes, and the benefits and threats for related to development of eco-tourism in Eastern Serbia were the most discussed items. In the following month, members of the working group will provide their assessment of the applicability of specific EU directives relating to the environment and water from the standpoint of the specificity of the region of Eastern Serbia. This will be the basis for future document that will be discussed in the course of next meeting. Based on that document the final recommendations will be made.
